Goodnight Moon

goodnight moon

My ode to lavender, you bring me calmness, peace and harmony to end my day.

You are a treat for my senses, as well as my body & spirit.

 Ahhh… Lavender… it’s my wonder herb!

Filled with powerful antiseptic properties to help fight bacteria, heal wounds, reduce fever & upset stomach to name a few. It’s more commonly known for its calming effect on both mind and body, helps to relax muscle spasms, anxiety and even insomnia… now that’s magical!

There is nothing like capping off you day with a relaxing bath filled with lavender essential oil & aroma-therapeutic mineral bath. Its relaxation in a tub! Tune on Nora Jones Pandora station and fill you mug with sleepytime tea or a glass of vino… whatever floats your bath 😉

I love making lavender spray for my bedroom. Its so easy! Just add part water & lavender essential oil to a spray bottle, you can find it at your local whole foods bath & body section. Once you mix, spritz all over pillows/ sheets and face. It’s the perfect bedtime cocktail.

Sleep tight,

BB VS CC

I love that this blog is forcing me to really educate myself on the more important things in life, like for example the difference between BB and CC creme.

BB cream is promoted as an all-in-one facial cosmetic product to replace serum, moisturizer, primer, foundation and sunblock. Typically lighter than foundation but heavier than tinted moisturizer.

According to SELF magazine the best BB Cream is Urban Decay Naked Skin Beauty Balm $43

Unknown-3

CC generally stands for “color correcting” and the products are meant to address issues like redness, whereas BB creams are like lighter foundation with a few skin care benefits thrown in. “CC cream is a color corrector and will be typically lighter on the skin. “They have more of a whipped, light, fluffy feel and finish–kind of the new and improved BB.”

SELF magazine also has picked the best CC Cream, Olay Total Effects Tone Correcting CC Cream $22

While BB and CC creams are marketed for separate issues, and are supposedly different. I’ve tried many BBs and a few CC creams–and honestly, they’re almost the same. I think that the difference really comes in the brands – they are all for different specific targeted issues. Over all I have to say I dont think the CC cream is enough coverage for me. What do you use?

Arugula salad, with shredded carrots, sliced beets and crumbled goat cheese

IMG_0576
Arugula salad, with shredded carrots, sliced beets and crumbled goat cheese. Sprinkled with cayenne pepper and fresh squeezed lemon.
This is one of my fav salads + just had to share with all of you!
I love starting any salad with arugula, it has a great peppery taste with a crunch, not to mention its highly alkaline, loaded with detoxing components that cleanses waste from our bodies and is high in vitamin A, which protects the skin from free radical damage. How much better can this pungent green be?!
Carrots add color, crunch and the highest amount of beta-carotene to a perfect salad!
(as my Grammy always says it has to look great to taste great!)
Beets also add a beautiful color to any dish, they are extremely alkaline and high in antioxidants which we all know we cant get enough of! They are a powerful cleanser for the body plus a great source of iron (for all us non meat eaters 😉 )
I love dressing my salads with a sprinkle of cayenne pepper that adds a great zing plus a supper metabolizing booster… who dosent want that?!
Adding lemon to a salad is not only refreshing and simple, but its the perfect compliment to glowing, blemish-free skin! Lemons aid in digestion and support the liver. Not to mention a great source of vitamin c!
Finishing off this sexy salad is a crumble of goat cheese…now im not a dairy pusher by any means…but if you love a little smooth creamy finish to a meal goat cheese is the healthiest of all cheeses. So sprinkle, but go easy!
Keeping your meals simple and healthy are the keys to great digestion!
Enjoy

Yellow, Green, Purple

images-1This may seem like a stupid post to some of you but – I never took the time to understand why there are 3 colors of concealer + what they are for. I feel as a smarter beauty rep and part of Bona Clara I should know this kind of thing. So allow me to enlighten those of you who, like me, have not ever taken the time to understand the rainbow of flaw cover ups most make up brands have to offer.

ft

Apparently there is a method to the madness. Each of these colors are opposite each other on the color wheel and there for “cover up” or tone down the blemish.

Yellow, also known as Apricot in color, used to conceal bluish bruises, under-eye circles and mild red tones on the face.

Green is used to normalize yellow-colored skin imperfections such as sallow complexions and yellow bruises. It can also help conceal very dark under-eye circles and dark spots on bronze skin tones.

Purple is used to neutralize red tones on the skin. Use this for covering blemishes, zits, red blotches, rosacea, port-wine stains. Who would have thunk it… not me. Do you use colored concealers?

How to find that date

I have been working with Shannon Darcy, a Bona Clara brand rep for a few months now. I have grown to truly love, respect and admire her outlook on life and her general mind set about so many things.

1496890_1379013620412_o.jpg

A new blogger herself, I always read what she has to say “How I found that “date” was one that caught my eye. She has many Eastern beliefs and one of them is Feng Shui, she used this to arrange her life and home to be more welcoming to the things she wanted to come to her.

q

Its gotten me thinking…

Maybe its time to start to clear out things in my life that add clutter. I think over the past few months I have been making an effort to do that but I have become more and more interested in the power of your mind + really manifesting what you want in life – you can do it – you just have to make room for it.

How do you make room for the things you want in life?

Seattle

One of my fav tour stops this month so far (yes I know its only the first week of November) has been Seattle. Jordan and I did a Portland/Seattle weekend and stayed with her family in Olympia, WA. While I did get to see much of the more rural areas – I was so excited to experience Pike Place Market in downtown Seattle.

It was a foodies dream land – I bought Truffle salt and oil – it was AMAZING. I swear sometimes I must be a marketers dream! We didnt get to explore quite as much as I would have liked but it was after all a work trip 🙂

The Appreciation of Character

Soon after we finished in San Antonio we were off to a small town about an hour away called Fredricksburg. As soon as we arrived I knew I would love it. Kathy, one of the reps in town was hosting her launch at a wine bar on the main street. Fredricksburg is a mini Germany they say, all the restaurants serve german fare and – it felt like I had traveled back in time.

IMG_5158

Back to the wine bar, it was the most adorable antique shop in the front and the most hip wine bar in the back! I am not normally one for antiques, but I have begun to appreciate certain ones in my old age, not to mention, the way everything was displayed was nothing short of perfection.

Here are a few of my favorite gems!

Just as fast as we arrived, the Fredricksburg leg of the 543 tour had ended and we were on to the next city!

543 Tour: Dallas

One of the cities on the 534 Tour was Dallas, one that we have yet to experience any growth in but know this will be a gem once we do. We lucked out with a hotel in Plano where Ericka’s friend lived, he suggested NYLO, a modern, boutique hotel in downtown Plano.
