If I was a gambling (wom)an

Last night we promoted our second director, first senior director and I FINALLY promoted my first brand manager. This was followed up by a day of AMAZING calls with inspirational woman who are so hard working and smart it gives me goosebumps.

The feeling I get from working in the home office of Bona Clara is unlike anything I have ever felt before and I am pretty sure is what makes me so very in love with not only my job but this company and the direct sales industry in general.

There is something about the woman in this industry that just belive in themselves, in the raw and un altered drive within their soul, they know whatever goal they set, if they want it bad enough they will get it. Surrounding myself with people like this is what makes me so excited to get up and go to work every day. The part of me that not just wants this to work but KNOWS it will work, its the belife in the oh so natural ambition that only certain people posses. I am so blessed to be a part of this company… cheers to the woman of Bona Clara!

Purple Rain – Live life with gratitude

Mike Loner is the Chairman of the board of directors for Stella and Dot and also one of the keynote speakers at the event. His focus was primarily on happiness, whatever you define that as. If you want to be happy – gratitude has to be a part of your life. He gave examples of leaders who seemed to have it all going for them, but then have taken the time and have gotten themselves TRULY happy – they see success in not only their personal life but in their business!

Happiness isn’t something you pursuit its something you do every day, its something that comes from living a life filled with decisions that you know make you happy, its living a life of gratitude and understanding how you get to each stepping stone, that is where the “happy” we chase after will come from.

He went on to say “I am the luckiest man in the world – because of the woman in my life”, then he named his wife and why she is just perfect for him, his 2 daughters, Jessica Herrin, Blythe and even Danielle. He said the woman in my life shape who I am – and for that I am the luckiest man in the world. He gave me chills. He brought tears to my eyes. (The air conditioning must have been getting to me, who cry’s)

He told us a story about a young woman named Ruth Lorenzo who he met in London years ago. They got to talking one day after Church and his wife invited her to dinner. Ruth was able to talk to Mike about what she loved, singing and how she wanted to try out for  “X factor” for many seasons but she was in a relationship that was very controlling and prevented her from going on her own and doing something like that.

Eventually Ruth got the courage to be the Bold and Beautiful woman she was and she tried out … this is a video of her final audition. You can just feel the passion and desire in her voice and see if vibrate through her body and to the ends of her fingers and the tips of her toes.

Design Salon: You’re always selling

designSalonBanner

I attended the design salon at twelve chairs this week with my friend molly in an attempt to get molly the kick in the butt she needs to apply to designs school and selfishly to finally meet the gorg Erin Gates of Elements of Style (while also trying to invite people to the Bona Clara launch party).

Erin and her amazing hubby Andrew discussed the sales side of business. He touched on a few key points:

  • you don’t have to sell to everyone
  • let the customer lead the convo – everyone loves talking about themselves
  • be confident in your product (even if thats you)
  • read marketing books not sales ones

Over all be genuine and caring. Develop a relationship with your potential customer and figure out how you can help them. It was a great discussion but I cant help but mention their chemistry. They are just perfect! Balance each other out perfectly, Erin is a self proclaimed, insecure, pessimistic, worrywart and Andrew its an optimistic, confident, sales man.

I left Monday evening with an extra pep in my step. Knowing I really can do anything I want and I will blog till I get there (and after)… not that I even know what I want really… I cant wait for the next design salon!!
