Saturday Night Fever: Grand Ole Opry

I somehow convinced Bailey we should get tickets to the Grand Ole Opry,

“the show that made country music famous”.

The Grand Ole Opry is a weekly country music stage concert in Nashville that has presented the biggest stars of that genre. Membership in the Opry remains one of country music’s crowning achievements. Such country music legends as Hank WilliamsPatsy ClineRoy Acuff, the Carter family, and many others!! In recent decades, the Opry has hosted such contemporary country stars as Dolly PartonGarth BrooksReba McEntire,  Carrie UnderwoodBrad Paisley,Rascal FlattsDierks BentleyBlake Shelton and the Dixie Chicks

We went to the area a bit early so we could check out Gaylord Opry Land Resort which was most certainly worth it. Its a fabulous space and sprawls over acres and acres of land. With beautiful gardens and even fountains that reminded me of the Bellagio hotel in Vegas!

IMG_3882 We arrived at the Opry just as the show began. There was a mix several older artists sprinkled with new acts. One of the new acts – James Wesley preformed “Real” – which lyrics pick fun at “reality television”!

My favorite would have to be Jimmy Wayne where he did his “Do you believe me now?”. He was such a great performer, there were tons of woman trying to get photos of him and he let them come on stage and take a picture with them – while he was singing – which put him in all kinds of positions, even laying down!

IMG_3957I had to feel for Bailey during this one – she isn’t the biggest fan of country music, don’t ask me why but she sat through this one like a trooper.
